A group of popular K-pop artists has been set to take part at a music festival here to commemorate the ongoing Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea.
Some of the most popular Korean singers including Kim Hyun Joong and hip-hop musician couple Tiger JK and Yoon Mi-rae will grace the stage with other foreign artists at the 2012 Asia Song Festival (ASF) to be held at a special stage set at the Yeosu Expo in Jeolla Province, Korea on August 4.
The Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange officials said in a press release Tuesday that MBLAQ, B1A4, SISTAR, Teen Top, ZE:A, songstress Ailee and the three aforementioned artists will cool off the heat at the ninth summer festival.
Alongside the K-pop stars, Japanese band Aqua Timez, Singapore star Fann Wong, Thailand’s Candy Mafia, China’s Wei Chen and Taiwan’s James Lin are part of the lineup at the fest.
Established in 2004, the ASF aims to bridge Korean music fans and overseas music lovers by inviting Korean and overseas artists every year.
Between 2004 and 2008 the organizers had 15 to 25 artists from about 10 countries, annually, but stopped inviting foreign artists from 2009.
This is the first year in four years to have both Korean and other Asian artists to share the stage together at the annual music festival.
