[Info] SS501′s Asia Tour Tickets Sold Out in 30 Minutes

It has been made known that the first round of tickets for SS501‘s much anticipated Asia Tour was sold out in just 30 minutes! Their “1st ASIA TOUR PERSONA” concert will take place at the Seoul Olympic Park on both August 1st and August 2nd. 

Upon hearing the good news, SS501 responded, Being that this is our first Asia Tour Concert, we are very touched by our fans,” and, “We want to thank our fans again. We will work hard to give an extraordinary performance.” Following their tour in Seoul, they will cover many other areas such as Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

This year will definitely be an eventful one for the boys of SS501, as they will not only be touring around all of Asia, but will also be preparing for their second album which is expected to release some time in July. Geez, with the leader already toppling over from exhaustion, you’d think DSP Media / Entertainment would cut them a little slack. SS501 better get in tip top shape before the tour starts, or their health will suffer.


On a side note, for the fans who missed out on the first round of tickets, the second round will be up for sale near the end of June!

Jewelry brand Stylus by Golden Dew in honor of 6/14′s Kiss Day [Yes, there is apparently a Kiss Day*] took a survey on their homepage asking “Which male celebrity would you want to be kissed by?”

The results came out as 34% wanting to receive a kiss from Kim Hyun Joong followed by a very close 32% wanting to be kissed by Lee Min Ho. This seems to show the lingering popularity of the F4 and the BOF effect. 3rd place was Song Seung Hun with 15%, then Jo In Sung (13%) in 4th place, and 5th place by Lee Seung Gi (6%).

[News] SS501 Fans Show Their Boys Some Love

SS501‘s official fan cafe ‘Theseus’ released the ad saying “Theseus will always support SS501” today (the day of SS501′s debut) congratulating SS501 on their 4th year together. The ad included a picture of all the boys smiling happily with Kyu Jong and Jung Min making me think naughty thoughts with those open mouths. I know mine would fit right in – those mouths look like they will be better at pleasuring me than singing.

[Info] SS501 Embarking on 1st Asia Concert Tour

Just like the boys from SM Entertainment, the 5-member boy group from DSP Entertainment, SS501 will also be embarking on their 1st concert tour in Asia called Persona. After the release of their 2nd full-length album at the end of July, the boys will begin the first leg of their concert tour in Seoul on 1st August. From there, they will be flying to Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand, etc for their

1st, 2nd August – Seoul, S. Korea
13th August – Tokyo, Japan
The above are confirmed. The below are pending actual dates.

October – China, Hong Kong, Taiwan
November – Thailand
December – Malaysia, Singapore

Even from this month alone, SS501 will be flying out to many of the above-mentioned countries for promotions. From 8th June onwards, SS501 are scheduled to make appearances in Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc to promote their concert tour and give the fans a sneak peek at them in person first. Although SS501 have been pretty active in Japan all this while, this will be their first concert tour in Asia. It’s believed that discussions are underway for additional dates for their concert tour early next year. Possible destinations in 2010 include America and Australia.

From 18th June, solo songs by the SS501 members (included in their new album) will be released simultaneously to fans ahead of their 2nd album release. Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong’s solos will be out first, followed by the other 3 members. The members have also recorded a special music video for this.

A DSP Entertainment representative expressed, “More and more people are getting to know about SS501 in Korea and Asia. Kim Hyun Joong’s popularity levels have also risen thanks to his Boys Before Flowers role. Kim Hyun Joong has left people around him worried after he seemed to be in misery and suffering from depression recently during work. This apparently happened after Kim Hyun Joong’s grandmother suffered complications during her knee surgery last month. His grandmother showed symptons of paralysis to the whole body during the surgery and although she is currently out of danger, she is unable to recognize anyone else other than Kim Hyun Joong himself.

Hyun Joong had expressed many times during interviews that his grandmother was like a ‘mother’ to him. He said, “Before I was admitted to school, my grandmother was the one looking after me on behalf of my parents who were busy with work. My grandmother doted on me since I was little and she was more happy than anyone else when she saw that I had achieved a little success as a singer and in Boys Before Flowers. I was able to endure all the tiring and tough times because of her (grandmother) support.” The news that his grandmother was seriously ill after surgery has thus pained Kim Hyun Joong’s heart deeply and left him severely drained.

Kim Hyun Joong is not ruling out the possibility of negligence by the doctors in charge which led to his grandmother suffering complications during surgery and will be seeking a thorough inquiry into the surgery procedures. If it was found to be negligence that resulted in Hyun Joong’s grandmother health being worsened, Hyun Joong is likely to file for legal action for his grandmother.

Kim Hyun Joong’s grandmother has now been transferred to another medical facility in Gyeonggi-do for further treatment and Hyun Joong will always head over to look after his grandmother if his schedule permits. Pictures of SS501 filming for a yet unnamed MNet mini drama / MV has been leaked on the internet.

There isn’t too much information on it except for the fact that it’s supposed to be a 20 minute MV mini drama for the solo special album (where the members will each record a solo song). Supposedly Kim Hyung Joong, Kim Kyu Jong, and Park Jung Min are all stuck in a love triangle with a woman and it looks like they’re playing with guns trying to take each other out.

SS501 welcomed the upcoming summer by modeling for Le Coq Sportif and they are looking mighty fine. The theme of the shoot was ‘BOYS OF SUMMER‘ and was supposed to show the boys as men, but I’m not really feeling a very ‘manly’ vibe. Now if they were shirtless with six packs…I might have to change my mind. In any event, the men boys are rather cute and I’m completely digging those checkered shorts…where can I get myself a pair?

[News] SS501 Had Unique Fan Meeting; Come Fly the Friendly Skies with SS501

OH LUCKY DAY~! LUCKY FANS! (yeah, just like the song…)

All five members of SS501 held an unique fan meeting event for their fans. They boarded an aircraft and transformed into crew members on the 2nd and 3rd of May with 500 of their closest fans from South Korea and Japan and flew them all to Jeju Island. They probably felt good about flying to the island with no qualms about swine flu.

The boys provided in-flight services including, beverage service and safety demonstrations.

The fans and “crew” landed safely in Jeju and everyone was treated to a special concert. SS501 performed “Because I’m Stupid,” “U R Man,” “DEJA VU,” and “again.” They also did their version of the Gee craze later on at the Seogwipo KAL Hotel party.

[News] SS501′s Kim Kyu Jong Proclaims He Has No Game

SS501's Kim Kyu Jong admitted on a MBC variety show “Quiz to Change the World” that has a lame duck when it comes to the ladies.

Kyu Jong stated that in his past relationships, his girlfriends always ended up dumping him and he could usually see the breakup coming from a mile away by the way his girlfriends behaved towards him before the demise of their relationships.
Kyu Jong went on to say that in the beginning, before officially becoming a couple, the girl would show a great deal of interest in him. However, during the course of the relationship, he wouldn't have much to say and his sense of humor would pretty much be nonexistent. Consequently, due to his cold fish behavior, the girl would end the relationship leaving Kyu Jong with nothing but a box of tissues, a giant jar of vaseline, and memories of his lame personality.

Come on Kim Kyu Jong. That's the oldest trick in the book. Kpop idols like Rain have been using that poor me my past relationships sucked balls routine for years. Even though the routine is played out, girls all over Korea will still fall for it, hence Kyu Jong will benefit in many ways from his poor me story. It doesn't take a psychic to foresee that the girls that have sympathy for Kyu Jong will subserviently allow him to examine their throats with his Korean sausage in his doctors office commonly known as the alleyway behind the club.

[News] SS501 to model for French Apparel

NewsEn is reporting that SS501 was chosen to be models for the French sports apparel brand Le Coq Sportif. Le Coq Sportif is a famous brand name in Europe, Korea, and Japan (not so much in America). They sponsor some famous soccer teams such as Manchester City F.C.

Le Coq Sportif chose SS501 because they’re a popular Korean Idol group with good looks, a very unique / fascinating fashion sense, and strong personalities that fits with the image of the brand. Another boon is the fact that Kim Hyun Joong was becoming very popular in Korea because of Boys Over Flowers. This is great news but there’s more great news for their fans.

SS501 is also scheduled to have a fanmeeting for two days (May 2nd and 3rd) on Jeju Island (Warm Climate Vacation Spot). This won’t be any normal fanmeeting because the SS501 boys will dress up as Steward’s and fly with the fans down to the island. They won’t just be acting because they’ll actually serve the fans like any Steward / Stewardess would. Around 350 total fans will be attending the fanmeeting (150 Korean and 200 Japanese). The whole trip will be filmed and will air on MNet sometime in May.

After the boys being apart for so long, it’s good to see them work and be together again. Let’s hope they get a good rest and have an awesome comeback together (all 5 of them).

Yesterday at the Lotte Hotel, Kim Hyun Joong held a fan signing event and apologized to his fans for making them worry when he was rushed to the hospital on the 3rd. He had fainted during the filming of a commercial and was rushed to the hospital, but had to leave the hospital the early the next day due to his busy schedule. With all the Boys Over Flowers filming, constant interviewing, being hacked, and going to the police, you’d think he’d finally be getting a break. Of course, who are we to say that celebrities deserve a break? Companies like to ride the fame and DSP is riding it out into Japan on the 12th for the promotion of SS501‘s upcoming album. I guess we’re finally seeing all five again instead of just Triple S.

[News] Triple S of SS501; Victory Concert was Victorious!

Powerhouse presented an all-star concert in support of the Korea National Teams and the players who are participating in the 2009 World Baseball Classic and the World Figure Skating Championship. And the Korean team definitely had a lot of support! Alex of Clazziquai and Park Jung Ah of Jewelryhosted the three hour show and it was definitely a show of Korean victory and pride. Of course with the impressive win by Korea, the show started off with a lot of energy and it lasted to the very last minute! Alex and Park Jung Ah kept the crowd entertained with Alex throwing in his English remarks and Park Jung Ah’s sullung jokes in between each act.

The show opened with Poppin’ HyunJoon showing off some of his signature dance moves and a performance of his song, “Don’t Stop.” Then it was Clazziquai, with the host himself, Alex and the beautiful Horan! They sang their songs Love Mode, She Is and Come to Me.

Baek Ji Young had a little awkward moment in the beginning by re-starting her MR in the right key, but still her hit song “Like Being Hit by a Bullet” was perfection, followed by the upbeat, “Dash.” Wheesungsang Insomnia and was touched that everyone followed along to his newest song. He also sang ‘With Me,’ an audience request.

The eccentric Lee Eun Mi mentioned her crazy lopsided fro as being one that only a person like her could pull off and kicked off her shoes!

The trot singer Tae Jin Ah was the first act of the night to get all the people out of their seats! Dressed like a Vegas cowboy in a purple velvet blazer and sequin vest complete with sunglasses and hat, he got much love from fans of all ages. He even jumped off stage and gave a bouquet of roses to one special lady in the crowd.

The sexy ladies of Jewelry sang ‘Superstar,’ ‘Everybody Shh!’ and of course ‘One More Time.’ Alex later commented to Park Jung Ah that all the male audience members in the front were still looking at her and were shouting “You rock!” Seo In Young was there sporting a “curvier” figure. The couple of months here in the US must have changed her hair as well as her diet.

The biggest crowd anticipation seemed to be Triple S of SS501, with the popularity of Boys Over Flowers. ‘U R Man’ drove the girls crazy, especially that part in their choreography where they pretend to take off their jackets! They also sang ‘Because I’m Stupid’ from the BOF OST and a little medley which included, ‘You Are My Heaven,’ ‘Snow Prince’ and ‘A Song Calling for You.’

And for the last act of the night Kim Gun Mo performed a medley of his own, with all the classics up to his latest song ‘Kiss.’ Although the majority of the crowd was female (probably because all the guys were at the victorious baseball game) the few guys who were in the crowd were doing the dance moves from ‘Kiss,’ head nod and all. Kim Gun Mo ended the night with his encore song “Wrongful Meeting.” By then the theater looked like a dance club! He’s quite the comedian even while performing, pretending to pull and arm muscle while doing a Techtonik dance move. Hilarious! Next time Hwangbo should try to help him out.

The entire night was fun and successful, with the WBC win and the lineup of milestone singers. Congratulations to the winners of the last minute giveaway and thank you to Powerhouse for making last night a memorable one!

SS501 member Kim Hyun Joong has gone from CEO of fried chicken (Hotsun Chicken) to its main model.

For the CF, he played his F4 character Yoon Ji Hoo who rides his motorcycle against a European backdrop to go to a party and eats chicken surrounded by beautiful girls. Guess Jandi loses out to girls who love to eat chicken. The CF is also getting additional attention as netizens are adding their own BGM (background music) and narration, creating fanvids praising Ji Hoo/Hyun Joong. They revealed that Hyun Joong fit the image for the CF, which was one of luxury with the concept of  “Loving girls, Understanding girls, Thinking of girls”Or how about because it’s his own company?
